FAITH, FAMILY AND FREEDOM ALLIANCE OF KANSAS:
FIGHTING TO PROTECT KANSANS FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS AND THE SAFETY OF WOMEN
Kansas House Panel Holds Hearing on Controversial Measure that Would Restrict Religious Liberty

TOPEKA, KS: Faith, Family and Freedom Alliance President Michelle Schroeder offered testimony in opposition to HB 2323, a bill that directly threatens the First Amendment rights of Kansans by restricting their ability to affirm and exercise their deeply held religious beliefs.

Government should be working to preserve and protect our constitutionally-guaranteed freedoms, not working to limit them.

Similar SOGI (“sexual orientation” and “gender identity”) laws and ordinances passed in other states and by local units of government are already being used to penalize and persecute people of faith who simply desire to live out their deeply held religious beliefs, which preclude them from participating in, celebrating, or sanctioning behaviors which violate the tenets of their faith.

HB 2323 would also allow dangerous bathroom and locker room policies to be forced upon the women of Kansas. As is happening currently in numerous states, SOGI laws are being used to force private businesses and public entities alike to allow transgender men access to women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.

These policies completely disregard women’s rights to privacy, trample on our First Amendment rights, and fly in the face of common sense.
